"Now you’re talking about flying huge airliners at 500 miles per hour into the towers, using remote control. Were there any practice runs for this? How/where was that done? We’ve been testing the missile defense shield for decades; these types of technically intricate operations need to have kinks worked out before they can be operationally successful." - Would it be all that different from guided missiles? I don't find this point especially strong. The could have practiced it more discreetly like landing a plane on remotely or whatever.

"How were the phone calls from the airplanes to their families faked? Did the government have expert voice impersonators for all those passengers, good enough to fool their own wives and husbands? Or, were the families in on it, cooperating with a murderous operation that would mean they would never see their loved ones again?" - I don't know. Good point though.

"So…. trying to convince me these people could get together amongst themselves, organize thousands of demolition experts in a mass-murder pact, secretly solve the logistical problems of flying airliners from commercial airports into buildings remotely (doing who-knows-what with the real passengers and crew), then pulling it all off perfectly, and THEN, keeping everyone quiet, is well beyond belief." - Another good point. I think my position on 9/11 is changing.

There are still other questions to be looked at though.

Thank you to everyone for the tone of respect despite the differences of opinion.

Now you're talking about flying huge airliners at 500 miles per hour into the towers, using remote control. Were there any practice runs for this? How/where was that done? We've been testing the missile defense shield for decades; these types of technically intricate operations need to have kinks worked out before they can be operationally successful.

How were the phone calls from the airplanes to their families faked? Did the government have expert voice impersonators for all those passengers, good enough to fool their own wives and husbands? Or, were the families in on it, cooperating with a murderous operation that would mean they would never see their loved ones again?

As to how the towers fell as they did, I suggest you read the peer-reviewed material a previous poster took the time to provide. We, as non structural engineers, really don't know what we're talking about in that area. For me, I find it impossible that towers that tall could support their own weight in the first place. I also find it impossible that my hard drive holds 300 GB of data.

Dave, you and I agree on many things regarding government, liberty, economics, etc. I believe we both mistrust government, and we mistrust it more and more as it expands. But here's where we apparently differ: I see government as being generally incompetent.

Social Security, Medicare, the national debt are all running us headlong into bankruptcy and a total collapse of the dollar. There is no such thing as a cost-efficient, well-run major government program. VA hospitals continue to have problems, our public educational system has been failing for decades, our government has done nothing to stop illegal immigration, the party in control (Democrats) are owned by the Trial Lawyers' Assopciation, so meaningful tort reform cannot happen.

Barney Frank gets the bright idea that people who cannot afford homes should be able to buy them, so the rules for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are relaxed, and look what happens. The government takes over General Motors and the first thing it does is waste billions on a "cash for clunkers" subsidy, in a desperate move to sell cars.

Do you think the government will be able to manage GM into profitability? No, I don't either.

Politicians in both parties buy into the man-made global warming nonsense, either because they are socialists, simply selling out for votes, too lazy to do a little thinking/research, or just simply too stupid to have any common sense.

So.... trying to convince me these people could get together amongst themselves, organize thousands of demolition experts in a mass-murder pact, secretly solve the logistical problems of flying airliners from commercial airports into buildings remotely (doing who-knows-what with the real passengers and crew), then pulling it all off perfectly, and THEN, keeping everyone quiet, is well beyond belief.

Look at how the government handled Katrina. THAT is more indicative of our governmen's competence, or lack thereof.

Dave, healthy skepticism of government is a very good and necessary thing. But I think you've taken it a bit too far on this one, because to be right, you have to give these politicians WAY more credit than they deserve.

"With so many witnesses seeing the planes crash into the towers, including the second one caught on live television, where did the conspirators find pilots and crew to carry out those suicide missions?"

Would it not be possible for them to be controlled remotely? From what I have heard 5 of the hijackers have been found alive and well after the hijacking (I don't know for sure).

The phone calls could have been fake.

Here is an interesting list of the top 10 reasons for thinking the hijackers are fake.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMNim2FUD50

How did building 7 collapse at freefall speed? It was never hit by a building and wasn't even directly adjacent to the twin towers. The buildings adjacent to them were damaged significantly more then building 7 but none of them collapsed.

We may have to respectfully disagree but I do think it is a reasonable position.

There are two ways I can think of to present a compelling argument. One is peer-reviewed research, and the other is logic.

For example, the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is less than one half of one-tenth of one percent. At most, one-tenth of that is man-made. There are people who will tell you this naturally occurring compound, which, incidentally, is required by all plant life (trees, grasses, vegetables, life itself) is not only harmful; it is the single biggest factor in warming our planet.

My point: You don't need to be a scientist to realize, this argument is flat-out ridiculous. A fieldmouse cannot push a 400-pound log uphill, and such a trace amount of so vital a compound cannot have more impact on climate than sunspots, gravitational pull, ocean currents, etc., COMBINED. It is insane to think so.

Now, back on topic. Let's take Patrick's excellent logic further. With so many witnesses seeing the planes crash into the towers, including the second one caught on live television, where did the conspirators find pilots and crew to carry out those suicide missions?

And were the hijackings of the other planes, at the same time, an incredible coincidence? The hijackers were described by people on the plane, via cellphone, to be Arabic, as were the folks who tried blowing up the towers in 1993.

So.... your conspiracy theory is that the US government conspired with certain Arab terrorists to set charges to the towers, and then in one massively coordinated effort, the planes are not only hijacked and flown into the towers, but, after letting the buildings smolder awhile, the charges were then detonated.

You think this is reasonable??

Or were the planes hitting the towers an illusion that fooled everone, including the cameras?

I seriously will sleep well tonight. I agree to disagree with you. Either way, no amount of us arguing via this blog will change what has taken place. I will look more into this, if and when I have the time. I don't want to keep this going, at least on my part. We could keep comparing "Expert studies" and "statistics research" and still not agree.

Ok i am going to give you evidence on how this conspiracy is bull crap and settle this once and for all.

1.For there to have been any sought of demolition work done in the building it would have taken weeks, it takes weeks to blow up a building, ontop of that they would have to be working undercover, people did not report anything like construction and so on, so for them not to report this that whole building willingly complied that they were going to be killed, and lied.

2.Way to many people in a conspiracy, the government only has 2 thumbs, he may have lots of henchmen but none on the scale needed to keep everyones mouth shut, the demolitons experts, the people in the buildings, the firebrigade, the police, forensics, F.B.I, your telling me there is not one person who is gonna confess out of all these people, and the list can go on. more then 20,000 easy, more with gossip to friends or letting it slip out.

3.The plane going missing, these people just got up and said hey you know what im gonna listen to these people leave my family and die in the ocean, or land somewhere else, these people are missing, seriously how hard is it to realise THEY ARE DEAD.

4.the way the buildings went down so fast, the extra weight, and the immense heat on the bars, the jet engines would have caught on fire or the fuel, many explanations on that.

any other therious revert back to answer 2. because that is the main one.

Comment: "there is rigorous scientific research that has been reviewed by the best experts"...."

Look at the true to life facts by the other 'experts' not owned by the government and rewrite your personal view of this event. I mean, come on, are you really being serious? http://www.911documentaries.com/ I dare you to look at even one of these reports.

Ok Andrew, absurd humor is great...sometimes. But if one chooses to believe everything that they are told, what does that say about that individual? First things first: they are not a individual. They must fall in line, anything else does nothing but scare them. I repeat, I take all that is presented to me with a grain of salt, I read between the lines, etc. Do I not sound "P.C." enough? Oh, well. I believe in the FIRST AMENDMENT. The comedy that I just took the time to watch is funny is some respects, but in comparison to what we are discussing via internet, it's passive aggressive. Everything the government is saying to us is true...right...I am very glad that I am an American. I am one of the most blessed people in this world being American. But keep in mind what the Roman empire did, for what we are told, to Socrates. Had him commit suicide because he was teaching the children "Wisdom". Think my friends, think.
