The Lord Gives and Takes Away

Faith Add comments

If you have read Job you know that at the end of it Job finally realizes that God is sovereign and he make his own decisions and does things his own way for his own reasons.

My wife has for the better part of her life experienced many health difficulties.  We don’t know why.  More recently she has seen a doctor who finally seems to know what she is doing.  Now my wife is on the path to health and although it’s not a perfect path we can defiantly see marked improvement.

I have also struggled with health issues but they have manifested differently.  Stress, fatigue and frustration was generally what I was experiencing.  I too am improving.

We will be going away in January (another blessing) so I might not be posting anything to the blog during that time.

I guess this post is my way of expressing excitement and praise to God.  We feel we are in a period of our lives where God is pouring out blessings on us and we are great-full.

We don’t know by what purpose my wife was sick for all those years but we trust that God works all things for good.

Feel free to post any blessings in the comments.

    Dave,

    Sorry to learn about you and your wife’s health issues. But, it’s great to hear you’re ok. I hope your family has a great Christmas and you enjoy your time off!

    One thing that always helps me relax is some quality green tea. I prefer buying loose tea rather than tea bags, since the leaves in the tea bags are usually lesser quality. Samovarlife.com and adagio.com are two great online tea stores.

    Take care.

    Thanks Andrew. :)

    My favorite tea is kava tea. But the brand I like has cinnamon in it and I am allergic to that.

    Have any of you watched this documentary?

    @Billie

    I watched the preview for it and it looked very similar to Food, Inc. (which I caught in the theater this year). So, I haven’t watched it yet. The same guys seem to be interviewed in both movies, but it seems like The Future of Food puts more emphasis on what we should do, rather than what the problem is.

    I’ve also watched King Corn, which was equally disturbing and led me to limit my corn syrup intake and always buy grass-fed beef.

    I will check this out: “KingCorn”. Thanks

    Watch Food, Inc. first if you haven’t seen it. It was released on DVD last month.

    I saw “King Corn” yesterday. It was good and informative. I still encourage you folks into watching this “The Future of Food” documentary. It takes it many steps further. I will make the time to see “Food,Inc”.

    Dave,
    I’m so happy to hear that your wife has found a doctor who can help. I praythat your wife’s doctor will have God’s and the Holy Spirit’s guidance to ensure that her health problems will be resolved.

    Your title struck me, because when my younger brother died many years ago, the doctor told my mother in the words: “The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away”.

    We all have crosses to bear, and Job is the ultimate example. I won’t go into my crosses, but want to say that we all bear them. So we must count our blessings and be positive and remember that faith brings the peace that passes understanding. My best to both of you.

    Deborah

    Glad you enjoyed it, Billie. I’ll definitely watch The Future of Food soon since it’s on Hulu!

    Besides one factual error in The Future of Food, everything in all three of these movies checks out. This is one major issue that unites people from all political beliefs.

    For any that don’t have time to watch the film here are some simple rules = buy organic local food first, then local conventional, then organic, then (if you absolutely have to) non-local non-organic. Always buy grass-fed beef and free-range chicken. It’s most important to buy organic fruits/vegetables if you eat the surrounding layer (think apples, peaches, grapes, carrots). Every time you buy something you are placing a vote that says you want more of it.

    Andrew,thanks for the input. To all, Food INC. is a must see.

    @Deborah

    Amen to that.
